It’s been in the works for a while but we’ve finally installed an electric car charging station in Riverside Village! It’s facing Riverside Drive connected to Watanabe. Savvy electric car owners know how it works: Swipe your card and punch in your time. Maximum charging time at this unit is two hours, plenty of time to enjoy a meal, a beer, shop at area stores and add more miles to your car… Total cost: $2. Amazing!

Lots happening in Riverside Village…

The brand new Riverside Village Pharmacy is set to open soon. Owners Gary and Donna Williams are hard at work getting the space ready. It’s looking REALLY good!

Sadly, East Nashville School of Music has closed. Danny Ray and Nancy Denning Martin are wonderful neighbors, have contributed much to Riverside Village and to our whole community and in many important other ways. We wish them the best with new endeavors, with their growing family and hope they come back to visit often.

Thanks to new District 7 Councilman Anthony Davis, McGavock and Riverside is experiencing some much-needed improvements courtesy of Metro: The moved NES pole (thanks to Anthony Viglietti also!) and new left hand turn signals at the corner. And soon, better cross walks at the corner and…drum roll please, possibly extended SIDEWALKS! Is it possible? Will it happen? Chances are good according to Mr. Davis.

Nissan recently came on board as Urban Green Lab’s Founding Partner! This community center for sustainable is a first for Nashville and, in many ways, a first for the entire country. Once built at the end of 2012, it will be a tremendous asset for our neighborhood and our city!

Lastly, thanks to new Riverside Village addition, Village Ink Tattoo, the strip building near Baily and Cato’s has some much needed color! They took the initiative to paint the building themselves it looks great. Stop in, say thanks, and get a tattoo!

You talked, we listened! This week we signed a lease with “Riverside Village Pharmacy” –a very friendly, service-oriented neighborhood drug store. Folks might recall “Riverside Pharmacy” which operated on the same corner for more than 20 years in the late 60′s, 70′s and early 80′s. So we’ve come full circle, folks…New store is scheduled to open in late November!

Just a short note about…pillows? Yes, pillows! “Showcase Upholstery”, located between Village Pub and OMG in Riverside Village, is having an awesome sale.
